Abuja — A coalition comprising Concerned Nigerians in Diaspora United Kingdom, Concerned Fulani People of Nigeria, and the Assembly of Lagos Youths has dismissed allegations against the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, describing them as unsubstantiated and a distraction from pressing national issues.

In a joint statement, the coalition rejected claims linking Gbajabiamila to bribery-for-appointment practices, asserting that no verifiable evidence has been presented to support the allegations. The statement was endorsed by US-based public affairs commentator Kofo Williams, who emphasized the need for responsible discourse amid rising political tensions. “These accusations lack credible substantiation and appear designed to undermine governance,” Williams said.

The allegations originated from Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who publicly accused Gbajabiamila of involvement in corrupt appointments. However, This Day cautioned against mob justice, noting in an editorial that the claims “deserve critical examination away from the current mob approach.” The newspaper urged due process and called for investigations to be conducted within legal and institutional frameworks rather than through public spectacles.

The coalition’s defense of Gbajabiamila underscores growing polarization around accountability narratives in Nigeria’s political landscape. While critics demand transparency, supporters argue that unsubstantiated allegations risk destabilizing public trust without proof. As of now, no official investigation has been announced by relevant anti-corruption agencies.
