Pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been rescued, with plans for them to reunite with families, according to a Naija News report. The reunion was expected to take place on Monday, following the successful military operation.

Fresh details from the operation indicate the order to launch the rescue mission was given on Thursday night, leading to the safe recovery of the victims. Intelligence gathered from the arrest of relatives of the kidnappers played a key role in locating and freeing the abducted pupils and teachers, Naija News reported.

Despite the successful rescue, parents and relatives have expressed reluctance to send the children back to the affected schools. The Oyo State Government acknowledged these concerns, stating that some parents may opt to transfer their children to other schools. The government did not rule out the possibility, citing the trauma experienced by both students and families.

A former Director of Media Operations at the Defence Headquarters, Maj. Gen. John Enenche (retd.), commended the Federal Government and security agencies for the rescue. He urged authorities to address existing security gaps to prevent future abductions in the region.
