Captain Polycarp Oteh, spokesperson for Operation Enduring Peace, said the troops responded swiftly to the incident after the call at approximately 9:30 p.m. near Sopp in Riyom Local Government Area. The victims were intercepted and freed during a coordinated military operation along the highway.
The group included six passengers and one serving police officer, according to Daily Trust. No injuries were reported among the rescued. The military did not disclose details on whether any suspects were apprehended during the intervention.
Operation Enduring Peace, a joint military and security initiative in Nigeria’s North Central region, continues to deploy rapid response units to combat rising incidents of abduction and armed attacks.
