Nigeria's ntel has officially ceased its traditional calling and data services to reposition as a digital infrastructure company, the company announced during a relaunch event. The shift marks a strategic exit from consumer telecom operations to focus on building and managing digital infrastructure assets.

The company will now prioritize investments in telecommunications towers, fibre optic networks, power systems, and real estate to support Nigeria’s growing digital economy. This pivot aims to strengthen underlying connectivity frameworks rather than compete in saturated retail telecom markets.

As part of the transition, ntel launched three new platforms: Beam, Titan, and Eden. These services are designed to expand digital connectivity and monetize infrastructure assets across Nigeria, according to Legit.ng. While specific functions of the platforms were not detailed, they are central to ntel’s new business model.

The decision reflects broader industry trends where telecom firms are unbundling operations to capitalize on backbone infrastructure demand, driven by rising data consumption and AI deployment. TechCabal reported that the shift was unveiled on July 15, 2026, signaling a long-term play on Nigeria’s digital transformation.

ntel did not disclose details on workforce restructuring or customer migration plans following the shutdown of its telecom services. The company remains focused on enabling digital services through infrastructure, not direct-to-consumer offerings.
